Since ancient times, wine became an essential part of people’s lives and culture. We enjoy a glass of wine with friends, pair it with food, try it while travelling to get acquainted with different countries cultures. Sakartvel, also known as wine homeland – is the only country in the world where winemaking methods that were developed up to 8,000 years ago have not only never been abandoned but remain in many ways best practice. It is a unique country with over 55,000 hectares of vines and as many as 525 grape species. Wine is so deeply embedded in the Sakartvelian identity that its wine culture is to speak of Sakartvel itself.
